About Me

Hello, I’m Janine Kennedy, a counsellor and psychotherapist and I’m so glad that you’ve logged on.   My hope is that you will find help and support in your journey to freedom and peace!

I come alongside those who are overwhelmed to help them find the strength and encouragement they need to experience freedom, so that they can be free to focus on their own dreams and passions.  I support people to learn to live in freedom and love self and others, without fear.

I am a believer of God, and I fully respect you in your beliefs and values, and have worked with people from different/no faith.

I work with a variety of areas; the most common issues I provide support with are depression, anxiety, body image and food/weight issues, recovery from domestic abuse, and issues around living with chronic illness.  If you are unsure if I can help you with something, please feel free to discuss it with me – if I cannot help you I will do my best to signpost you to those who can.

You can take the step to come alongside me on a one to one basis via skype, telephone or face to face counselling.   I provide short or long term therapy, using a variety of therapeutic techniques some of which are CBT, mindfulness, humanistic, and solution focused therapy.   You will be assured a warm and safe environment in which you can explore, share and understand your thoughts and feelings and how they are presented within your reality.

I love to see and bring out the best in people, and have a passion for helping people to reach their full potential.  I love to reach out to people who are struggling and overwhelmed with support and hope.

I am an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with the NCS (National Counselling Society.  I abide by their code of ethics and work under professional supervision, practising in Belfast, Newtownabbey, the surrounding areas and also work online.  I  hold a current enhanced police check.  I provide counselling one day a week in Carrickfergus with the Cithrah Foundation to those who are affected by domestic violence, and lead monthly support groups for those who experience eating distress.  I keep my professional training and skills updated – currently I am studying obesity and weight management at postgraduate level.
